JUBILEE CONVENTION

As media team, we were tasked with taking care of the visual identity of convention. This year’s Syro-Malabar convention had a price issue, we pushed messaging that communicated its value, addressed controversy with a personal touch, and built a conversation with community support through individual creators and local organizations.

In order to convince our community this expensive event was worth it, we communicated

  • Value

  • Association

  • Rarity

So that our community listened to us, we established creative context. Without creative context, any distortions in the reasoning makes our brand unrelatable. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.

We celebrated the Syro-Malabar culture. For Americans, feeling celebrated online and connected our roots gives EVERYONE permission to do the same, meaning why wouldn't a Syro-Malabar Catholic want the same?

Mood Board & Color Study

We were inspired by the Syro-Malabar heritage through the architecture, clothing and decor.

Logo & Patterns

We drew inspiration from Kerala agriculture and religious patterns.

We evoked nostalgia. We live in a time where the past is not only missed, but romanticized. We emphasized a branding technique called Newtro, combining "new" and "retro," updating vintage products with modern, functional, or digital twists.

We established ourselves as a place for information. Often answering FAQs, all DMs, and any logistics. Typically Syro-Malabar instagrams offer more information than the website itself (not ideal, but a standard). It’s expected that this event will be exactly what we advertise. We aim that each participant knows what to expect when they come to convention and leave satisfied with the explanation.
